Good morning everyone!
Here it is the post that I wanted to write since a long time: today I'll talk about my university! There are really a lot of things to say and try to describe my experience is not that easy as I thought even though I'm here just since a month. So I thought about a set of post #WelcometoGlion with the aim to tell you the "behind the scenes" and the unwritten things of this journey from a Semester 1 student!

Ecco qui il post che tanto desideravo scrivere: oggi vi parlerò della mia università! Le cose da dire sono veramente tante e cercare di descrivere la mia esperienza non è affatto facile come pensavo anche se sono qui solo da mese.
Ho pensato allora di iniziare una serie di post #WelcometoGlion nei quali vi racconterò i retroscena e le cose non scritte sulle guide di questo mio viaggio da studentessa del primo semestre!
Iniziamo?
First of all, where is Glion?
Glion is located in the french part of Switzerland, in the Canton of Vaud.
The university is right above Montreux, town know for the Montreux Jezz Festival.
The campus overlooks Lake Geneva and the Swiss and French Alps.
Since 2013 the academic preparation has extended its horizons by opening a new campus in London, a touristic destination and the city of the European business as well.
I like to think about Glion as the center of the world: here there are more than 80 different nationalities.

Prima di tutto, dove si trova Glion?
Si trova nella svizzera francese, nel canton du Vaud.
L'università è proprio sopra Montreux, città conosciuta per il Montreux Jezz Festival.
Dal 2013 la preparazione accademica ha ampliato i suoi orizzionti aprendo un nuovo campus a Londra, destinazione turistica ma anche città del business europeo.
Mi piace pensare a Glion come il centro del mondo: ospita più di 80 nazionalità diverse.

Departure
I came here on the 6th of August. There's no need to say that I was really nervous and excited at the same time. My new life was about to start! My big deal, predictable as I'm a girl, where the languages! When I received my admission letter I thought I had a lot of time to organize everything instead the month passed so quickly and just one week before the departure I realized how many things I still had to do.
Move to another city, studying abroad and leave the family is not always easy: we always feel strong and self confident when we're talking with friends about going away. But when we have to do it, when we really have to go, that's the moment when we're surrounded by thoughts and fears.
I can truly say that is normal, and that bad moments exists as well, especially the firsts days! But guess what? They don't last more than 30 seconds! Because the happiness and the enthusiasm are stronger than fears! Something new is coming every day and believe me, you won't have time at all to be sad!

Sono arrivata qui il 6 agosto! Non c'è bisogno di dire che ero nervosa e felice allo stesso tempo. La mia nuiva vita stava per cominciare! Il mio problema principale, prevedibile dato che sono una ragazza, erano proprio i bagagli!
Quando ho ricevuto la lettera di ammissione credevo di avere tanto tempo per organizzare tutto, invece i mesi sono passati così velocemente che solo una settimana prima della partenza mi sono resa conta di quante cose dovessi ancora fare!
Trasferirsi in un'altra città, studiare all'estero e lasciare la famiglia non è sempre facile: ci sentiamo sempre forti e sicuri di noi quando parliamo con gli amici sul fatto di partire e andare via. Ma quando dobbiamo farlo, quando dobbiamo veramente andare, quello è il momento in cui le paure e i pensieri ci tormentano. Adesso posso dire con sincerità che è normale, i brutti momenti ci sono, specialmente i primi giorni! Ma sapete una cosa? Non durano più di 30 secondi! Perchè la felicità e l'entusiasmo sono più forti delle paure! Ogni giorno succede qualcosa di nuovo e credetemi, non avrete proprio il tempo per essere tristi!

Contrarily to what someone might think, leaving and going away could be difficult. One reason is because we're going ahead to the "middle of nowhere". We don't know what to expect, we know what we're leaving but not what we'll find. And sometimes it happens that we feel kind of lost: we don't know what we should go or what we should do. We have to learn how to organize our new life. We need time to go to class, study, going to the laundry, ironing clothes, sleep, and obviously have fun.
And that is not always granted: usually I had someone who did things for me like washing or ironing clothes or cooking... my lovely mummy!

Contrariamente a quello che qualcuno può pensare, partire e andare è una scelta difficile. Una ragione è che stiamo andando un po' verso l'ignoto. Non sappiamo cosa aspettarci, sappiamo cosa lasciamo ma non quello che troveremo. A volte succede che ci sentiamo anche un po' persi: non sappiamo cosa dobbiamo fare o andare. Dobbiamo imparare a organizzare la nostra nuova vita. Abbiamo bisogno di tempo per andare a lezione, studiare, lavare i vestiti e stirare, dormire e ovviamente divertirci! E questo non è sempre così scontato: solitamente avevo qualcuno a casa che si occupava di stirare lavare o cucinare.. la cara mamma!
